Anime Boston 2023: Find Your Spotlight took place April 7 – 9, 2023 at the Hynes Convention Center in downtown Boston, MA. The premiere New England con was bigger than ever bursting at the seams of the Hynes! Panel rooms were completely full. American voice actors headlined the guest lineup – including Filipino American actor, Dante Basco. New England cosplayers like Misa On Wheels, Lady Cels, etc volunteered their guest time judging and hosting advanced cosplay panels. This year’s theme was “Idols,” and yet, there was not much in terms of idol guests. 2023 is proof that the con is still recovering from the loss of 2020 and 2021. However, it didn’t stop the weekend anime party.
Cosplayers donned their Genshin best and added bunny ears to their Sunday Easter cosplays. While we had no Love Live guests, we had VTuber guests known as hololive to fill in the idol void. Or did it? Is Anime Boston a shadow of it’s former self, or is now another anime convention? Read on, Cadillac cats!
