To be cringe is to be free
After 20 years of writing convention reports and operating the longest running and active source of anime and pop culture con reports, so I wrote a book about it!
“The Fangirl Diaries” is a non-fiction book about the intersection of girlhood and anime fandom. Recording Sailor Moon at 7:30am, discovering anime through the early internet, trading tapes with strangers online, pixelated anime photos on our school binders – because to be cringe is to be free. This is my personal account as a teenager living their best otaku life in a time before streaming and social media. I hope you enjoy reading this!
