[Con Report] Fanime ’19: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Fanime Con ’19 took place on May 24 – 27, 2019 at the San Jose Convention Center in downtown San Jose, CA. The Bay Area convention is one of the longest standing by fans for fans anime event. So much so, Fanime ’19 was celebrating their 25th anniversary. The theme of this convention had the mascots dressed in 1920s art deco attire. Glistening in silver and blue, the convention was a celebration of 25 years of doing it for the fans. 2019 guests included Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya), Chris Patton (Full Metal Panic), Giles Poitras (fandom scholar), Toshihiro Kawamoto (Studio Bones), among others. Fanime Con is ever growing and ever changing. I have been attending this con since 2003 and it’s interesting to see Fanime roar into their 25th year.
