On March 7, 2015, the New England Resin Doll Society (NERDS) met up at the Onyx Room in Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA. Because of a busy schedule, I’ve held off doll meet ups for the time being. However, I wanted to give this event a chance. I ended up vending at this event – I had a ton of old doll clothes to sell. To tell the truth, because ball joint dolls are not as huge as they were back in the mid-2000’s, I was not sure how I would do as a vendor. I was still quite surprised I broke even and I was able to talk to doll collectors that were still active in collecting resin kids. The Onyx Room is an unique space; there were a handful of tables that sold various doll goodies. Some had custom dolls and some had doll accessories. There were plenty of tables for doll owners to show off their collection and plenty of space of socialize and meet up with likeminded collectors. I haven’t been to something like this – a community doll event – since Ms. Cholong hosted doll events in Glendale,CA and when a maid cafe in Los Angeles used to hold bi-monthly Lolita and doll meets. It was nice to have that community feeling again. I look forward being much more active in NERDS – this is an amazing community for people who love dolls – not just the resin kids, but Gene’s, Monster High’s, Barbie’s, etc are very much welcomed!
Many thanks to Mary (Nauticon) for hosting this event. Perhaps I should host up an impromptu meet up in Brookline sometime?
Scarlet Rhapsody dolls in presence were Shirayuki (Dollfie Dream #4) and Eva (Custom House Cebee) with a special appearance of Raven (Ever After High).
