Taiga – Toradora – Holidays
I’ll admit, I’ve only seen a few episodes of Toradora, but they were in Tagalog. I thought I wasn’t going to enjoy the series since slice of slice anime seems so cookie cutter, but there was something special about Taiga. My partner says I’m a lot like her – short, short tempered, independent, and tsundere. I actually did this cosplay on a whim. I’ve never done any holiday themed cosplays before. I saw an image of the Toradora girls wearing Christmas outfits. Taiga was in this awesomely bad hime-inspired outfit – empire waist and big bow.
I used McCalls 6466. I highly rec this pattern because it’s very versatile. I’ll also be using this for Together Forever! Pinkie Pie for KatsuCon. Very easy to follow and I just made the ribbons the way I usually do. They’re hand stitched on. The ruffle was gathered by my machine. It’s all cut on the bias. The usual.
My favorite part about this cosplay is making the headbow. Now, Tokyo Street Style is known for having big-ass bows. I wanted to really exaggerate on this. I made bow as big as my face to rest on my head. I made the two ribbons and attached them separately. The entire headpiece is hand stitched onto a headband.
This took me about a week to finish. I normally finish projects like this in a day. It was fairly easy. I’ll be debuting this at Anime Los Angeles 2013. The nice thing about the LAX Marriott is that they keep their Christmas decorations up. I’m looking forward to Christmas themed photoshoots then!
