Adorabeezle Winterpop – Sugar Rush
And here’s progress so far on Winterpop from Sugar Rush. My friend Cessie wanted to do a Sugar Rush group for Anime Expo. I originally wanted to do Crumbelina, but Winterpop was open. Considering I endured my first winter (with snow!), I thought this would be fairly appropriate.
It was a huge challenge trying to find the right polka dot print on blue. I found this print online. I literally looked everywhere for the right print. This came the closest. I used a retro-esque style pattern for the dress. It still needs to be cut because it’s too longed. It’s not at the correct hem yet. The biggest challenge was working with this fabric because it’s very light weight and very slippy. I lined it with extra fabric from Fantine. There’s two versions of Winterpop – one where she’s wearing a blue polka dot print dress and another one where she’s wearing a top with a polka dotted pleated skirt.
The belt is from my USO girl cosplay from last year.
I went to a store in Downtown Crossing that was having a sale on winter tops. I ended up getting a jacket for about $5 that I plan to modify.
The stockings are from Forever 21. They have a nice selection of multi-colored stockings in different colors and styles. Also great for putting on a Loli-esque cord.
Now the big challenge is to find a source that sells faux fur that can work with my sewing machine. This will be the first time I’m working with faux fur,
This will get a debut at Anime Expo, but I can foresee myself finishing it long before then. The original plan was to finish in time for PAX East, but of course, PAX East is long past.
