Kaleido Ruby – Type Moon Universe
It started out as a joke. I refused because it was never on my top list of things to do. However, in May, BizarroDx started playing around with a skit idea for masquerade. Since I had no idea idea what to do for the next masquerade show I would enter, I thought this might be fun.
I got almost all of the supplies from JoAnn’s at Villa Park. This was so spur of the moment. I already had a bridesmaid pattern that I could use for the base. I took a pattern that was a tube top bodice with a flared skirt. For the dress, I followed the pattern, but I cut a V in the front. The casa satin is lined with leftovers from Shadow Yukiko.
The underskirt is the same pattern cut thrice. It’s pleated and the seams are zig zag stitched. Lace is added to the bottom. I’ll be wearing one of my lolita pettis to give it a full look.
The leggings and gloves are made from lycra bought at Sewfisticated. Thanks to friends, I was able to hit up Sewfisticated for the first time. After years of getting boot patterns down, I literally made the leggings in like less than ten minutes. My costuming mentor, Lady Saiyan, always advised to make boot covers snug. It has a nice tight fit to it. It is overlocked together.
I need to redo the cat ears and the tail. It shouldn’t take to long. I lost the tail and the cat ears don’t look even. I still need to add some gold buttons and add the ruby to the gloves…oh, and I’ll be working on the gloves today. Joy. I can’t seem to find my tail though. That awkward moment when a cat can’t find their tail…
This is the pink sparkle casa satin fabric from JoAnn’s. You can’t see it photographed here very well, but the sparkle casa is amazing on shoujo-tastic outfits.
I did three different attempts on practice fabric for the front piece. The back piece is proportional to my petite body. The crosses are from Sewfisticated. I bought eight gold cross patches. What I did was get some gold filigree and sandwich it between two cross patches creating a solid look.
I still need to add the collar piece to this over tunic cape thing. Rin progress is going pretty well.
