Sailor Senshi – Glove Toppers
Allright, my LEAST favorite part about making Sailor Senshi fuku – glove toppers. I decided to reference the Internet for a better tutorial if there’s an alternative way to go about this. I tried stuffing and I tried piping. Either way, it’s a pain in the butt.
I came across Sparkle Pipsi’s Sailor Fuku tutorial while perusing around. Prayers answered. It addressed a few things I needed to get done on both the Mercury and Saturn commission. While this tutorial is for basic, regular senshi (moreso on the PGSM versions), it is still helpful for Sailor Senshi basics.
For the glove topper, I like how she gave a pretty standard size of cut for the fabric. I usually take the subject’s bicep circumference. This measurement is pretty universal. I divided each of the channels by 1 inch. The tutorial recommended batting / stuffing. I was willing to give it another shot.
Two episode of Martian Successor Nadesico later, I had two sets of glove toppers. Mercury’s still needs more stuffing on one. I just used up the bag of fake holiday snow (the type you get at Michael’s) to stuff the glove toppers.
The images show that the toppers look pretty rigid. From experience, the more you wear them, the more rounded and less rigid they are.
What’s left? chokers, sleeves, sleeve transparent things, and belt thing / hip roll.
