Anime Expo 2025 took place on July 3 to July 6, 2025 in downtown Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The convention brings in over 100,000 anime fans from around the world. The long running Japanese animation convention had guests this year from such franchises as One Punch Man, DanDaDan,Gundam GQuuuuuux, Persona, Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), Fate, dozens of English language voice actors, special art from Peach Pit, and various industry professionals yapping about the latest and upcoming anime releases. Anime Expo can be compared to San Diego Comic Con – the exhibitor hall’s towering industry booths outnumbered anime and fashion vendors. Unlike San Diego Comic Con, Anime Expo’s artist alley has to be THE largest of its kind in North America having over 900+ artists worldwide.
For locals, we have a love / hate relationship with Anime Expo. While bigger is not necessarily better, there’s still a reason why non-locals aspire to go to this convention. Last year saw improvements, you still could not escape the heat or the crowds. It’s a very “people-y” anime party.
This is my 25th Anime Expo. I attended as an author donning my industry status. I also ran a panel on navigating Los Angeles’ fabric district. Let’s see how Anime Expo did in 2025…
