Fanime Con 2025 took place on May 23 to 26, 2025 at the San Jose Convention Center and a few hotels around the downtown San Jose area. The long running, “by fans for fans,” Bay Area convention was still standing strong despite of recent criticism. Fanime is THE anime hangout hub of Northern California. This year’s guests brought in Giles Poitras, Linda Le, Dokibird, Mimcubus, Tom Fahn, Dorothy Elias-Fahn, and others. The popularity of VTubers was definitely present in their guest line up as well with local interest.
Fanime Con has a few competing conventions on Memorial Day weekend – Momo Con, Animazement, Anime North just to name a few. Fanime Con still drew in cosplayers and attendees from all over the west coast. This con has been running since the dawn of anime conventions and was born from the original team that brought us Anime Expo. What does Fanime Con look like in an era of VTubers and the missing Danger Dogs ™ ?
