Typically, Scarlet Rhapsody’s team likes to grab a meal on the hotel grounds. During the weekend, we ordered pizza to be delivered to our room and typical room service. The closest restaurants were within driving distance rather than walking distance. For brunch, Jared and I went to the Terrace Café for a savory meal to jumpstart the day. The food was splendid and well worth the price.
Sunday was also our huge programming day as Scarlet Rhapsody had to take care of running three different panels. After breakfast, we went into the dealer’s hall to take one last look if there were any last minute deals. Jared took home an outfit for his dollfie, Charlotte (Kid Delf Aru). Deb also took home a wig for her dollfie, Kamui (DollZone Luke).

Our first panel for the day was our professional development panel, Reporting for Anime Conventions. This typically is targeted to people who do reporting for anime conventions if they need a refresher or would like to educate themselves with tips how to be better reporters. It is also meant for people interested in digital journalism and blogging anime conventions, but lack the know how to run a reporting group.
The next panel we ran was a nostalgia themed panel, Moon Prism Poptarts: A History of Sailor Moon in North America. This panel was very much packed. Our reporting panel only had ten or so people. Like Animation on Display 2011, we had people sitting in the aisles and standing against the back wall. To our surprise, Hector Reyes, visited the panel to add to the discussion of “Sailor Moon”’s localization and domestic release in the United States. This was a very successful panel. Much of the highlights came from people sharing their stories growing up with the show, discussion on the upcoming manga re-release, and a sing-along to the show’s opening theme (guitar solo included).
Suffice to say, we received plenty of compliments and praise for the panel. We are definitely considering making this a 90 minute panel for larger conventions such as Fanime, Anime Expo, Sakura Con, Anime Central, or any convention interested in anime nostalgia.

Jared had to make a quick run from the Sailor Moon panel to the open air stage. Jared and Justin had signed up to do a live show for GeekFM on the last day of the convention. As this was
one of the last events at the convention the crowd was not very big. The convention staff
helped get our sound equipment set up and we were rolling by 3:15. Despite this being
our first live show everything went as well as could be expected. It was an interesting
experience and we even had Steve Racer, a voice actor, stop by to join in the fun.

The day was winding down. Everyone was just about to head back home during the 5PM hour. Jared had a 6:10 train to catch back to Anaheim and a few of us had to be home at a timely hour to be ready for the work week. Anime Conji was a pretty good experience. Though it is still in its infantile years, this event has potential for growth and years of ongoing success to come. Thank you, Anime Conji!
