Let's be honest. I'm not the biggest fan of Yaoi, neither do I even care for the genre. Yet, it doesn't hurt to keep an open mind. Yaoi Con was a last minute decision. A majority of my Bay Area friends attend the event, as well as attracting Southerners as well. As far as the convention goes, I thought there was too much congestion in certain areas such as the second floor dealer's room. I'm not used to ticketed events, but I suppose it must be done for high demand events. Like fellow press colleagues, I was dissapointed in the scarcity of press badges. A majority of press photographers I spoke with could not photograph main events such as the masquerade and others due to lack of having access to a better vantage point. Tom and I went to this event to visit our friends - Diana, Astro, Tog, Claudine, Nando, Katie, Richie, and many, many others. Of course, there were some we might have missed and some we couldn't spend as much time as we wante to, but you can only do so much in a short weekend. There were many priceless moments during the weekend - mostly geeking out to Jojo's Bizarre Adventures and Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl. There were definately MADE OF WIN moments, and some moments that fell in the DO NOT WANT (ex: learning about Transofmers yaoi) category, but it was mostly MADE OF WIN! I have absolutely no regret visiting the Bay Area during the October weekend. It was literally a breath of fresh air from the fires from the South. Traveling Valentine's visit to San Mateo was a surprise for most people. We didn't really talk about our post-Anime Expo plans on public forums. Yet, this was our last Bay Area event of 2007. We're happy that our last bout in the Bay turned out to be a success. To all my friends, no one can put a price on you. You're all priceless to me. Hopefully, I can make it to the Bay Area soon again. Of course, many thanks to Tom for being an awesome partner in crime and everything else! Love you for that! Our last event is Pacific Media Expo as far as cosplay / anime goes. Hopefully, we'll catch a few familliar faces there. Thanks everyone!
