Sue (aka B Sapphire), director of programming, invited Traveling Valentine (and a few of our friends) to host a dollfie event. The original set up was that we were given a two hour timeslot to host "A Doll's Tea Party." It would be a mix of a dollfie panel presentation and a tea party style gathering. The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. The set up we were left with was a traditional panel set up - chairs facing a table of panelists, and a buffet of snacks and tea. Katie, Astro, and Diana ran the informative panel on Asian ball joint dolls. Tom and Claudine helped out with the raffle and the tea and cake portion of the event. Tom also brought his laptop to show a few "Cosette and Eponine" videos and other pictures from doll events. Claudine also brought a documentary on dolls. Unfortunately, the AV Staffers were not able to give us a full set up to show our media. However, the panel ran smoothly. Astro provided a free suedeing service. There was much to be given away at the raffle. Claudine was able to secure donations from Sac Anime dealers as well as provide many dollfie related swag - skirts and Harry Potter themed scarves. Tom brought in the freebies from the Anime Central panel - postcards, mousepads, etc. Sasu, a mutual friend of our's, also donated socks for the raffle. There were many random prizes to give away! Even if you didn't win anything at the raffle, there were snacks and tea a plenty. Everyone was fighting for the Pocky. Though, I think all of our panelists agree that Coque D'asses trumps them all. (Thanks for suggesting that, Astro!) Overall, the Doll's Tea Party was satisfying. There were points that could have been better, but I'm glad this event ran smoothly. Thanks to our friends who helped us out! Tom and I had to move in our gear to our new hotel room. At the same time, Tom had to check into masquerade to confirm our act. Tom had many weapons to check in, so he wanted to be sure. During this time, I was unpacking and ironing costumes. Once Tom needed me, I quickly changed into Momo Hinamori and went back inside the con. We ended up having lunch at the hotel's restaurant. It was one of the most delicious meals ever.
