Day Three was a lesson in always-pack-your-iPhone charger. We were just about to check out of the Westin on Sunday morning. Check out time was at 11AM. Luckily, I had all my things packed up. I decided to wear Japanese street style for the last day. Given that certain J-RPGs and bullet hells have lolita-esque characters, I decided to wear my favorite brands, Innocent World and Aerisk. There were not many panels that occured on day three. For the most part, everyone was rushing to the main floor for anything last minute.
Dealers Hall The exhibit hall actually did have a few vendors around the corner. They surrounded the perimeter of the main gaming exhibits. I was not quite sure if there were going to be vendors since the focus of PAX East is showing off new and upcoming games, but I'm glad they actually did allow some dealers to sell. I did see some of the usual suspects from the East Coast anime convention scene. Video Games New York had their usual imports. There were also a few vendors that were selling some classic Nintendo 64 games. I ended up buying a few travel cafe style posters of Hoth and Winterfell. I also found an exclusive limited edition Rarity thumbdrive. I was quite surprised that I spent money in the dealers section, but I needed a new thumb drive anyway (and more decorations for my apartment).
Finding Raffles While getting free stuff at events like this is one of the main draws, Ashley and I were searching for booths that had last minute raffles. We found out that most of the raffles took place on Friday and Saturday. However, did stop by one place that was raffling off various PC accessories, but we did not win anything.
Duck Tales I actually stopped by the Twitch display to see their live play of the Duck Tales remaster. It was next to impossible to test out the demo at Capcom as there was a three hour line, but it was nice to see a live play on the screen. The graphics looked very well rendered and it was nice to see that almost everyone who stopped and watched all shared the same childhood. Though we are pushing 30, it was nice to just have that moment where everyone was all watching and remembering their childhood. Of course, eveyone was wondering if there would be a remix of the moon stage music.
Magic: The Gathering Part of the freebies you got at PAX East was a deck of Magic cards. While I am a regular at Anime Expo, these usually serve more as fabric weight. However, Ashley wanted to get me into playing Magic. At the very end of the exhibit hall, there was a whole area dedicated to card games and pen and paper games. This is where all the typical D&D nerds gathered. What I liked about PAX East is that it incorporated gaming of all kind. People from TJ were teaching people how to play Magic: The Gathering. I ended up taking home two more decks with me after observing how game play works.
Leaving the con I really did wish that Sunday had more to offer. However, like any other day three at a con, it was the lightest day as far as programming went. If you do consider hitting up PAX East, Sunday is the lightest day and you can still see the entire exhibit hall from open to close time. My hotel friends and I checked out at around 11AM and got the car packed up. We had the usual post-con dinner. We ended up having sushi in Roslindale Village and tried to recollect what happened in the past 24 hours. Pictures are copyright by Scarlet Rhapsody .
