Press Conference Sailor Moon Canadian Voice Actors by Jared
On Sunday we had the opportunity to see the Sailor Moon voice cast guests in their closed press conference. The different press outlets were allowed to ask questions of the guests and had the opportunity to have longer answers than would be normal during a guest panel. Jared asked about playing major franchise characters such as roles from The Avengers and Super Mario Super Show. It was interesting hearing their answers to more intelligent questions.

The World of Gundam by Jared
The world of Gundam can get very complicated and this panel attempted to break down the history of the Universal Century from the anime, books, and manga. It was a very in depth panel that even covered the oddity of Turn-A Gundam and how it connects to the various timelines. It was interesting to learn more about the Gundam universe since the majority of the books never came out in the US and even translations are hard to find. This was one of the better Gundam history panels I have seen.

Dubs Time Forgot by Jared
While the process of redubbing a series may seem like something new, but in actuality many series have multiple dubs from not only North America, but from all over the world. This panel went over English dubs from several popular franchises including Captain Harlock, Fist of the Northstar, and Urusei Yatsura. While we did see this panel at Katsucon, this time we got to see a completely new collection of clips. From silly to terrible this panel shows you just how different anime dubs can be.

Otakon Convention Feedback by Jared
At the end of the convention it isn’t too surprising to see something like a ‘gripe session’ where attendees can give criticism to the event. While there were some rude people who dropped complaints and wouldn’t accept any answer. However, the majority of people were far more polite and were happy with the responses they received. As for the staff they were very understanding and really seemed to care about the feedback. It really shows that when you have a good staff it tends to lead to happy attendees. This was a good way to wrap up our time at the convention because it made us happy to know just how together the staff of Otakon is.
