Otakon was coming to a close. I couldn't believe it was already over. I packed my bags up and left them at the Days Inn bell desk. I planned to wear two costumes on Sunday; both easily interchangeable. The first was Rei Hino for the Outer Power, Inner Beauty photoshoot. The next was for my shoot with Rene Hwang as Lisa Lisa from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. Sunday was an extremely light day. It meant for last minute deals in the dealers basement and saying farewell to new friends.
Artist Alley
Artist Alley was on the opposite side of the dealers basement. It wasn't so much a pain to get to, but I was quite disappointed in Artist Alley. While I did see the usuals that show up at Boston events, I just felt it was simply prints. While there were tables that sold Lolita jewelry, nothing really did catch my attention. I do appreciate the aisles being wide so I can take a look at everything. However, I also wanted to take a look at the Rurouni Kenshin art gallery that was imported over exclusively for Otakon, but it looked like there was a line for that. However, it was nice to see the chalk twins do some exclusive chalk art for Otakon's 20th year. I was able to see them finish up their drawing before the end of the con.
Karaoke
Over at the far end of the convention center, on the Sheraton side, you had the Karaoke room. It was a nice place to unwind and have that ice cold water that you got for just a dollar. I did like the tables in the back so I could write up my convention notes. For the most part, it was people singing anime tunes. I walked in just in time to hear someone rock out to theme to Saint Seiya. I really do think that 2013 is a cursed year for me and karaoke; everytime I'm about to be called, I have to attend to one thing or another. In this case, it was my flight back home to Boston.
Leaving Otakon
I left the busy convention center around 2PM to catch my flight from Baltimore to Boston. I really wanted to stick around for the Yoko Kanno concert, but it conflicted with my flight. The scheduled time for said concert was announced after I had booked my flight in late May. It was very pleasant to spend my birthday weekend at the east coast's largest anime convention. Many memories were had and I anticipate next year will be even better.
