The biggest disappointment of the Long Beach Comic and Horror Convention was that I could only go to one day. I missed the first day of the convention because I was recovering from a recent sickness. Even though I was not at my peak, I still had a great time at this mid-sized comic convention.

The location is great as always. The Long Beach Convention Center is so much more than it once was. It was nice to see more panels being held within the convention center rather than having to walk down to the hotels for smaller panels. There was a great vibe to the convention. Everyone was relaxed and having fun. There was no feeling of competition or clique. This event has one of the best atmospheres of any SoCal convention.

The dealer hall was a mixed bag. While there were plenty of single issue venders offering everything from golden age to current releases. There were only a limited number of venders offering hard cover and trade paperbacks. I also had very little luck finding figures at the event as well. On the good side there was plenty of great artist tables (both professional and amateur) as well as numerous theme group booths. I do like seeing all the theme group booths because it allows those who might have an interest in joining a diesel punk, Star Wars, or Harry Potter group a chance to see what the group is about and ask questions of the group.

I am glad to see the expansion to horror for Long Beach Comic Con. As a major horror fan I like seeing more effort being placed into promoting lesser known and independent horror films. There were even attendees in horror themed costumes. Not to mention the zombie walk, thought I did miss that event. I hope that this will continue for years to come, after all this event occurs right around Halloween every year.

Every year I look forward to this event, even with being sick on Saturday I was up and ready to go Sunday and made the best of the day. I hope that Long Beach Comic and Horror Con will remain strong. Special thanks go out to Richard Epcar, Miguel, Becky, the Pendant Audio staff, and all the cool Star Wars fans. If there are any questions or comments feel free not to e-mail me at Jared(at)Scarlet-Rhapsody.com. Enjoy the list and until next time give my love to Kara Zor-El.
