This year we decided to head out early on Friday to evade traffic and to enjoy some time in Long Beach. Upon arrival at the familiar Long Beach Convention Center, I wandered a bit reminiscing on past events. It was a relaxing way to begin the convention. After that I went to pick up my badge, the lines were not very long and I had everything I needed in short order. Before I could do anything I received a text from Victoria stating that she had arrived. She arrived in her Rei Hino (Sailor Moon) cosplay and quickly picked up her badge. There was not much going on in the early hours of the convention so we decided to hit the only busy area, the dealer hall. Even for a small event there were a large number of vendors and attendees. The hall offered a little of everything; comics, toys, movies, clothing, and even some oddities such as aroma therapy. We wandered around and I found a good deal on a Zatanna AmeComi figure. We continued to wander the hall looking at all the offerings of the hall and great comic book inspired cosplay. We also had the nice surprise of seeing the Cosplay in America booth. As we are big Star Wars fans it was nice to see the Rebel Legion, Mandalorian Mercs, and the 501st Legion stationed at Long Beach Comic Con. We have considered joining the 501st and talking with their members makes joining the ranks seem like fun. As we made our way through the hall I ran into some old friends and had fun discussing comics. It is nice talking about Silver Age comics for a change and hanging out with comic nerds felt like the old days. We took a final look around, but decided to wait on making any more purchasing decisions. One of the best parts of the Long Beach Convention Center is the beautiful location. The city works as a great background as does the harbor and the hotel lobbies. Victoria decided to get some photos of her Rei Hino cosplay. As it was getting dark we decided to meet up with my family and have a nice dinner at Rock Bottom a short distance from the convention center. Pictures are copyright by Scarlet Rhapsody . If I took your picture, feel free to use it on your site or cosplay gallery. While you're here, do sign the guestbook. This site was brought to you by the font Timepiece. |
