By request of Hygena, I decided to dress up on Saturday. I originally wanted to just wear normal civillian clothes for the weekend, but I figured I would dress up for the fun of it. I wore a costume that I completed back in the beginning of the year. It has been nicknamed Project: Disturbia / Codename: Rihanna. For those of you who recognize what I am dressed up from, good for you, perverts. Saturday was much more lively. More people showed up. There were still few costumers. The way costuming is treated at this event is different from our usual anime convention fare. Kids treated the costumers as if they were meeting Mickey Mouse at Disneyland for the first time and wanted photos with their favorite superheroes. Long Beach Comic Con had a good mix of costumers from anime to movies: Final Fantasy 7, Spiderman, Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars, and Team Fortress. Jared filled in for the absent Deb. As promised to Hygena, we posed in our maid outfits. Of course, the maid afficianado had great appreciation for this mini-maid gathering. (Hygena, if you are reading this, I apologize for not stopping back on Sunday for an autograph. Next event, I promise!) There were much more costumers running around Long Beach Comic Con. Unfortunately, there were not many panels that we cared about going to. Stan Lee did not even have a focus panel. It would have been nice to participate in a Q & A session, but the only additional appearance Stan Lee had aside from opening ceremonies is signing autographs in the dealer's hall. Stan, Jared, and I were also interviewd in LA Weekley. We were asked which celebrities did we want autographs from. Though not reported on the popular Los Angeles based publication, I mentioned that I wanted to get Madonna's autograph. Though, I'm more of the type to get pictures with celebrities rather than getting autographs. The LA Weekley article featuring the Scarlet Rhapsody team can be viewed here. Thanks to Becky, I was able to get a photo shoot of Project: Disturbia / Codename: Rihanna. JC (Anime Photos) also did a photo shoot of me with one of his buddies, Albert. Photos from that set can be viewed here. Though Stan and Jared did not cosplay, they sure dressed swanky. The 5:00PM hour rolled in and things were dwindling down. Jared already got several figures from the dealer's hall that he found shelf worthy. I decided to do a photo set of Stan looking very GQ. Then Becky wanted some faux modeling shots of herself ('cause she's a model...a real one, y'know?). The interesting part of Saturday is that we ran into friends that we did not think that would show up. We ran into local photographer, Ted, on the way to dinner. We planned to dine at Dr. No's Secret Island Headquarters, but the wait was 45 minutes too long. Trudging in Prada shoes, I was feeling really hungry. Becky and Miguel suggested Outback Steakhouse. Though the driver, the prospect of Foster's got Stan's attention. As the boys were talking about who makes the best beer, we were seated right away. Becky also found a few Jojo's Bizarre Adventures figures at Long Beach Comic Con. It was only appropriate for the figures to be our center piece as we feasted on the deadly and decadent bloomin' onion. Pictures are copyright by Scarlet Rhapsody. If I took your picture, feel free to use it on your site or cosplay gallery. While you're here, do sign the guestbook. This site was brought to you by the font Mufferaw. Many thanks to Chaz Boston Baden for the image resizing and watermarking program. |
