After dinner at Fuddruckers, Tom and I took BART all the way to Oakland for Gaskell. Yes, we left Yah Oy Vey Con for a masquerade ball. We were lucky enough to make it to Act II of the ball.

For those of you convention regulars reading this, Gaskell is a ballroom dance event that happens in Lake Merritt every other month. Gaskell balls normally consist of Victorian style social dancing - waltzes, polkas, etc. Of course, there are those who attend Gaskell in costume. Normally, attendees dress in Victorian Era attire. Since this was the October Gaskell, the theme was masquerade. Costumes were very much appreciated!

Tom and I went World War II style. I wore my Francesca Cresentia from the World War II show I did back in high school. For the record, I had a bit part as a lounge singer. Tom went in a World War II uniform meant for a Michael Corleone costume.

Of course, it was nice seeing my friend Katie again! I still have to work on that Congress of Vienna. It was also interesting seeing an Elegant Gothic Lolita at Gaskell too (and know what Anime Expo is!).

October 2005 Gaskell was very pleasant. I look forward to the December Gaskell! And here's to sustaining injuries caused by the polka! (Tom got hit in the eye and my right foot got twisted!) That's polk'ed up!
