History of Lupin III by Jared One of my favorite panels to put on at a convention is the History of Lupin III. This year I got a 10AM slot on the last day of the convention. Surprisingly, there was a big group of attendees that showed up for the panel. We got up and running really quick, despite some of the cords not being plugged into the projector properly. The panel has been rebuilt with a new presentation and some new clips. The audience got a kick out of the clips especially the very silly clips from "Cliff Hanger" the first Lupin game released in the US . This year the panel went great, everyone had fun and I am looking forward to bringing this panel to more conventions.
Bijon Bakery by Mayor Victoria I always advise to convention goers to try something new. For the past nine years we have attended Fanime Con, we always passed by the Bijon Bakery and swore that we would grab a snack or two. For the first time in nine years, we finally decided to grab lunch at Bijon Bakery. I went to the bakery a few times during the weekend, so many times that by the end of Fanime Con, I was Mayor of Bijon Bakery in the world of Four Square. I highly recommend their salami panini and teas for a hearty pick me up.
Angel Hearts by Victoria Stage Zero was hosting Angel Hearts' Idolm@ster performance group to do a 30 minute set of songs and routines from the Idolm@ster game series. Angel Hearts had seven girls donning the Idolm@ster outfits and personalities. The outfits are best known from the first opening from the anime series; sunflower floral. In support of Angel Hearts (both Hanyaan and Cherry Tea got me into the series), I wore the pink floral version from the second opening. Video of the first three songs performed can be seen here:
About 16 songs were performed back to back in the 30 minute time frame. Angel Hearts really entertained the crowd and it was nice to have something awesome to hammer down the con. Flying Hands Massage by Victoria Since I discovered them last year, I decided to get a massage before we left for the airport. Every year, Flying Hands Massage shows up at Fanime Con providing relaxation services to attendees. All you have to do is tell them how long you want the massage and what area they need to focus on. They are neither soft or rough on the muscles. I really do enjoy this service; the owners of Flying Hands are always super nice and are super calm despite the fact that the massage area is right across from Stage Zero.
Closing Ceremonies by Jared This year closing ceremonies had a good sized audience and fell a little into chaos near the end. While the ceremonies gave the usual thank you notes, and information about next year, but after the panel random junk was given away to the audience. This was met with the problems of any "throw things at the audience giveaway". It was nice to see a lively closing to the con and the sheer amount of people shows just how much the fans really enjoy every hour of this convention. It was a nice way of ending the wild and crazy four day convention. Thanks to our friend, Vincent, we were able to make it back to San Jose Airport in one piece. The airport was not as busy as we expected it to be. We were able to zip through check in and security and make it to our gate. We had a smooth flight home, but one of us caught Con Sars™! Otherwise, it was a fond farewell to Fanime Con 2012. When we got home, we anticipated what would be the next round of guests for Anime Expo...
