Fanime Con was coming to a close. Jared and I were able to check out of our hotel room before 10AM to avoid the rush down the elevators. Unfortunately, we realized we forgot to pick up a stash of cookies, so we rode the elevator back up to retrieve them. Though it was a crazy morning going back to the room, we decided to make the most of day 4. People were still lining up for panels and people were still in costume. The con has not officially died, but there was still life after Sunday. Matt (California Conventions Blog) reccomended that I check out this artist booth in the artist alley who makes custom anime convention badges. She can draw you as an anime character on a customized convention badge. I thought the idea was cute. I decided to go for it while I was wearing Rin Tohsaka (Fate stay night). Apparantly, the artist actually knew who I was and has seen me around the convention scene since 2003. The badge came out to be splendidly adoreable. I will make note to do the same at the next convention I see her at. I also ran into my Southern Californian buddies. They had to hit the road early to get back to Los Angeles. We vowed to see each other soon. I did one last round at the dealer's hall. Jared was shopping around for figures. He eventually found a Soletta Orihime (Sakura Taisen 2) and a Lei Fang (Dead or Alive Extreme 2) to bring back home. I just perused around to see what I can get for myself at the next anime convention I go to. I picked up some Japanese snacks since they were going for $1 for a box of Yan Yan. Fanime was still alive and kicking on Monday. There were still a few cosplayers roaming around, but not as much as Saturday and Sunday. However, there were still gatherings to be done on Monday. Jared decided to cosplay as Keitaro on a whim. While we were waiting for a friend to deliver cookies to, we ran into the Negima gathering. The Negima gathering then turned into a last minute Ken Akamatsu series gathering because of the presence of two Keitaro's. For the rest of the time, we were hanging out with the California Conventions Blog crew. We also took pictures of Monday's cosplayers. We ended up having lunch at the Hilton's Affinity restaurant. It was time for me to have my traditional Affinity burger to call it a weekend. The food was great as always. I took a few shots of my Rin Tohsaka (Fate stay night) cosplay out by the fountains. By this time, several cosplay photographers took my photo. Out of all the costumes I wore during the weekend, Rin got the most attention. Ironically, this was all closet cosplay which required the least amount of effort compared to the other costumes I brought. Later in the afternoon, I had a photoshoot with Jorge Antonio Rivera. By the mid-afternoon, Fanime was coming to a close. Most of the Southern California crew had already left. All that was left was locals who wanted to stay for closing ceremonies. The crowds died down, and for once, it was relaxing not to have the halls overcrowded and boisterous. It was nice not having to hear "You lost the game" repeated over and over again. It was time to say "bye bye" to our beloved Bay Area friends. These are friends that I hold dear and I truly value. It was one crazy weekend, but we managed to get through everything. Thank you for the memories, everyone! Jorge Antonio Rivera was nice to take us back to San Jose Airport without taking a $15 taxi cab or a 45 minute ride on public transportation. We reached the airport and we vowed to take a very long nap on the flight home to Los Angeles. Pictures are copyright by Scarlet Rhapsody .
