After scheming with Cosplay Hell for months, it was time for JoJo's Bizzare Adventure cosplay, or JoJo Con as Diana affectionally dubbed it. I went as Mariah the Stand User of Bast. Tom went as Basted (magnetized) Joseph. Con Security was quick to spot Tom's excess metal. Though the idea that someone would rip off part of Tom's costume to use as a weapon sounded extremely illogical, Braindead Liberal Terrorists are hardly ever logical. Looks like Q would have his work cut out for him to make a more con-friendly prop for Tom. We went to Diana's hotel room to see pre-masquerade outbirk (tm). While there was outbirk (tm), there was the legendary Cornbrater. Astro wanted to see how long would the Cornbrater would take to go across one side of the hall to the other.

Prior to masquerade, we wandered around the convention center. I finally gave Richie something I've been meaning to give him: Haruhi ribbons. The story behind that is he and the rest of Anime FX want me to cosplay as Haruhi Suzumiya. Honestly, I think he would make a better Haruhi than I would ever. It didn't fit his head, but he wore the Haruhi ribbons. He promised us that he will one day cosplay as Haruhi Suzumiya. We also spotted our friend Mike (aka Raider 3).

Masquerade was not held at the civic auditorium, but at the American Musical Theater of San Jose. Tom and I saw "The Lion King" there a year back and Tom recently saw "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." It was a huge, yet elegant venue for this year's masquerade.

The final mission: Would the BLTs ruin Masquerade with heckling, delays, and post-masquerade drama? The main event of the con would decide.

The masquerade was hosted by Darryl. It seemed like the stage pirates overtook the stage ninjas from last year. Darryl was hosting masquerade after having some rum. He wondered where all the rum went. Special performances included anime music on the shamisen and the winner of the karaoke contest. Sketches included Full Metal Alchemist: Human Again (do they know that Beauty and the Beast will be play at the same venue later in 2007?), Pretear, One Piece: The Musical, Angelic Layer, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, and more. Masquerade halftime included an operatic performance and Ric Meyers finding out what anime he should watch - with audience participation!

After masquerade, JoJoCon took pictures outside. It was getting late in the night. Tom and I took pictures of the masquerade contestants and had In and Out for dinner. At Tom's house, we watched the final episodes of the Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventures anime series.

Mission Accomplished
