Finally!
A mini event to make up for my lack of appearance at Cherry Blossom
Fest! Well, Little Tokyo decided to hold it's first anime event - AG
Mixer. It was labled as a free anime convention, but to me, it seemed
like a Japanese culture event with some cosplay on the side. Tom and
I decided to go as Touya and Nadeshiko Kinomoto from Card Captor Sakura.
Mother and son pair, ain't that loveable?

My
only complaint about AG Mixer was 1) the weather and 2) not getting
enough time w/ people I haven't seen in a while. Though people have
said the even was disorganized, I felt they tried their best. It was
no AX, but definately no AX Idol.
Tom
and I first ran into Velvy and her friend, but an old man interupted
us just so he can compliment on the purple hair. Then we ran into Freya
and Sana. We went upstairs to the cosplayers getting ready. There was
Wayne, Heather, and Mike's group doing their Matrix thing. (at first
I thought Mike was Hai) Due to a slip of the tounge, I said that it
would be cool to see Matrix characters para para (since Mike commented
that he could para para in his trenchcoat). Wayne said that it was a
spiffy idea for a skit. So Mike wanted to a Matrix skit with Para Para,
but we had to settle w/ DDR since he forgot the moves.

We
ran into Jarod, Sohjiro, and other cosplay.com members. Tom and I went
downstairs to check out the festival. I got a few Lupin III dvds, and
Tom got his DDR fix on. It was time for the cosplay contest. We were
the second walk on, and we did our thing. After we did our walk on,
we went to the car to dump off our freebies and stuff we deemed useless
to carry around in the heat. We caught the last of the contest. Congrats
to all the winners! Have a fun time at the photoshoot!

After
the contest, a good majority of the cosplayers went back to the room
to chill. Tom and I accidently went into the wrong room. ^^;; We felt
like staying indoors for a while. Adella shared her sandwich with Tom
and I. The wallmarket dress was getting around from Jarod to Tom to
Sana. I remained pretty much out of it, which really isn't my usual
con self. Mainly, the heat was draining my energy. Wanted to go outside,
but I would have died if I did. When it cooled down some, Tom and I
wandered around. We heard that there was a going to be cosplay parade
over on 1st street. No cosplay parade.

We
went to the bookstore to look around. We ran into Kitty and Sean on
the way back. They were looking for people too. So we decided to stick
around with them. We finally got a group of people to head over to Mitsuwa
with. Before going to Mitsuwa, we had a mini photoshoot in the Japanese
garden by the theatre.

First,
we had dinner. Mike was going crazy over the shaved ice. Started to
play Jenga with it. I had a really good cream soda! *^^* Yummy! Tom
and I shared the curry set. The noddles weren't that great though, but
it was enough to fill me up. We hit the arcade for a while. The Para
Para machine was gone. Touya started to play DDR, and a mother is proud
of her son.
We
ran into Jarod, Blue Lady, Rey Rey, and friends. So we all decided to
go for karaoke at Karaoke Fantasy. We had no idea how to program the
thing. Only Rey Rey knew how.
However, the machine didn't have songs Jarod wanted, nor it was easy
to work with. However, we worked with what we have. Least with the karaoke
here, there's no cheesy movie while you're singing. Only shots of some
Hungarian village (for 25 cents a day, you can help Hungarian peasants
cosplay!) and random David Bowie shots. It was a fun time at karaoke.
Tom seemed out of it until he felt like singing. Kitty and Mike went
nuts over Barbie Girl. The Fanboystreet Boys entertained us screaming
fangirls. Strongbad's voice made an appearance. The ABBA chicks were
at it again. A few of us Lorena fans gathered together.

We
went for another hour and tried to make the most of it. Most of the
time was spent deciding on songs and switching rooms. We closed the
night off with a Bohemian Rhapsody. It was time to say bye bye to everyone.
Mike wanted to rape Sakura, so I tried to steal his trenchcoat for a
Fuuma costume. The later part of AG Mixer really made this event fun.
Thanks for the karaoke and dinner! See you all at AniMagic!

Tom
and I arrived at my house. To make this weekend birthday celebration
complete, we got the cake out. Couldn't exactly fit 19 candles in one
small cake. We did what we could. After cake, we saw a 1980s John Woo
movie, The Killer. It was pretty good. Depressing ending, though,
but it fits well.
