Anime Expo 2014 took place the week before ConnectiCon. This year, we were not able to make it to the con (save for a few of our staffers who offered to do a podcast on the con). We were pretty hyped for ConnectiCon to make up for the lack of Anime Expo on our part. We first heard of ConnectiCon after watching several videos from That Guy with the Glasses recording videos and partaking in Q&A's at the con. Being fans of the site, this should be one to check out. This was also Jared's first time and he thought this con would be more up his alley. Feeling jaded from anime cons in general, this might be a different change of pace. Scarlet just wanted an excuse to show off her new Love Live cosplay and interact with people who know what the heck Sailor Moon is.

Getting There is Half the Fun by Scarlet
Getting to Hartford from Boston is not too bad. It can take between 90 minutes to about two hours to get to and from each capital city. We took the Peter Pan bus down to the con. Though everyone on board was trying to get on the wifi, we just ended up either taking a nap or battle with Pokemon. It wasn't a dreadfully long ride to Hartford. The Hartford station is actually on the free shuttle line which brought us directly to our hotel. This year, we ended up staying at the Radisson, it's further down from the Marriott, but the free shuttle really helps getting around town.

Tabletop Gaming Room by Jared
Using a room that was as large as many dealer halls the tabletop gaming room had several sections for different types of gaming. There were open tables for pickup gaming, there were reserved tables for specific games, and an area for demos and learning how to play. The room was so well handled that they even had schedules for the different demos and learning sessions. Games ranged from card battles to epic d20 sessions. We wanted to try some of the demos, but there was so much to do at the convention that it was difficult to find time to join. Which is too bad because I have been wanting to run a game of Call of Cthulhu for some time now.

Team Four Star Q&A by Jared
One of the most popular groups on the Internet isTeam Four Star known for their ‘abridged’ style parody shows. This year the whole team showed up to answer crazy questions from the audience in both a regular and 18+ panel. We were lucky enough to see the 18+ panel which was made up of questions too dirty to bring up on this report and some fun clips of the abridged series. The panel brought out many laughs and a few stories that would fall into the TMI category. For example, I learned something I did not want to know about a former classmate who is closely connected with the group. If you are a fan of this group you cannot miss this panel, it is too much crazy fun.

Cosplay Roast of Tony Stark by Jared
While we have attended ‘roast’ style events this was the first time that the roast was run by people cosplaying as characters ripping on another cosplayed character. There were not only popular marvel characters like Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Hawkeye, but also a few unexpected guests like the Doctor and Grell from Black butler. The jokes were hit and miss depending on the person. Some people kept their character perfect and others not so much. However, being a fun event run by a handful of cosplayers it turned out really good. Defenatly on the blue side and very different from the usual cosplay events we do hope to see this one return with a new hero to get the fun loving roasting he or she deserves.
