For the second day of Comikaze the group decided to go as the Torchwood team. Most of the outfits were last minute closet jobs, but we still felt it would be fun to go from the underrated BBC series. We had everyone except for Ianto (as the original team member partied too hard with men in tight spandex the night before). Sunday morning was also brought in thunder showers. The team decided to leave once the skies cleared up.There was some traffic on the way to LA, but we still got there in a good amount of time because we forgot to move our clocks back an hour. It really felt like this day was far more crowded than the previous day. This may have been in part due to the appearance of Mark Hamill at the convention.

Upon entering the hall Jared began his search for Felissa Rose (Angela from Sleepaway Camp) in addition to a few other horror movie booths that he was interested in visiting. The smaller booths were difficult to find and get around due to the amount of people at the event. There were plenty of guests to catch interest, but sadly we had difficulty finding some of the booths amidst the crowd.

Around two o’clock we decided it was time to grab some lunch. There was a lunch truck that we saw earlier in the day. Sadly, by the time we got to the truck it was already gone. Instead we grabbed some convention food. The LA convention center has better food than most convention centers. We got some sushi packs at a decent price and had a quick lunch. We then headed down to the hall again and split the group to cover different aspects of the event.

Comikaze Expo also held their first costume contest, otherwise known as the masquerade. The prizes included a lifetime pass to the con (never have to pay for registration again!) and a $500 cash prize. The judges were fairly known LA Area costumers; Yaya Han (cosplayer and entrepreneur) and Miko Simons (Luck in Spades, RuPaul's DragU) to name a few. There was an overwhelming number of contestants. Over 70 cosplayers entered this fierce competition and brought their A-game.

The contest lasted for about an hour. However, the logistics for seating and placing the press was rather confusing. There was no stage, no seating for the audience, and the set up for press photos was vague and unorganized. Despite the logistics, it was nice to see fans bringing out the best in creativity. Cosplay is the ultimate expression of fandom. Dedication and love for the series can clearly be seen in the creativity and craftsmanship of all 70 entries.

While Victoria was off at the masquerade, Jared went around looking for some DVD deals. The Troma booth featured a mix of classic and new titles for those who need to fill in those gaps in their DVD collections. There was also another booth that featured DVDs from older movies and TV shows, with some discs that may have been bootleg. There was also an anime booth in the very back of the convention hall that was run by Animelane who were also promoting their new streaming service. However, the booth that caught Jared’s attention the most was the Zombie Research Society booth. Numerous people were gathered talking about different strategies and theories relating to the possible zombie apocalypse.

After looking around the convention hall the team gathered at a booth featuring discount trade paperback graphic novels. Everyone chatted while looking at the different books available, most of which were in the bargain bin for a reason. As it was getting late the team decided to grab a few final photos then head back to base. We had a nice dinner later that night and recorded our end of con vlog.
