Other than cosplay, media reporting, and kicking butt, Tom and I enjoy ballroom dancing. We were asked by Laura to proctor the Anime Expo Masquerade Ball lessons. Two hours before the actual ball, we would assist Miss Candice (ballroom instructor) in teaching others the art of ballroom dance. The night before Anime Expo, Tom and I were burning CDs like hell for the ball. Luckily, my parents also had a nice selection of ballroom music.

There were six proctors (three couples) assisting Miss Candice. The first lesson was waltz. The second lesson was East Coast style swing. Two experienced dancers gave a demo in West Coast swing. It's great seeing that AX attendees interested in ballroom dancing. I was not expecting many to show up for lessons, but I was really surprised. It was really nice see that people are getting into ballroom dancing.

Between lessons and the actual ball, Tom and I had dinner at the Sheraton Hotel (formerly the Coast Anaheim). I decided to have the minestrone soup. That was really refreshing after two hours of dancing.

Finally, it came time to open for the ball. I was really happy that the cosplay events staff took into consideration our idea of a coat check. The dance floor was larger, and Tom and I were very eager to get on the dance floor. To kick off the ball, "Masquerade" (Italian version) was played. It truly was an enchanting evening. The Anime Expo Masquerade Ball is definitely our favorite thing to do at the con.

Tom and I left the dance during the costume contest. The music was not ballroom sounding after that. We went back to the Hilton for a swim in the pool. It was really nice to have some workout time during the con. It was also nice to have the fireworks going off while we were in the pool.

We were invited to a real rum party at Karisu's suite. Dolls were welcomed to attend. That had to be the only doll gathering I went too. That was the same case for Karisu and Mary too. I got to see her Volks SDC Ren. Pina Coladas were mixed. We did not get back to our hotel room until 2AM in the morning. It was such a long day, but it had to be the best part of Anime Expo.

Please come to the ballroom dance in 2007! We would love to teach our friends ballroom dancing. Dan, Dave, Sihaya, and Gina are getting into it!
