For the Phantomhive Ball, we decided to go as characters from The World Ends With You to go with the formal event. Jared dressed up as a Makoto Miki in the pin salesman variant. No, he was not going around yelling, "Hot stuff! Come get some!" (but he wanted to). I went as Princess K, the Gothic Lolita shop owner. Jared told me about the cafe at the Golden Nugget that had pretty decent food. Lucky for us, the hotel was right across from the 4 Queens. Though it was a bit of a walk through the Golden Nugget casino area, it was worth it to have a relaxing sit down late lunch and early dinner. We did find it hillarious that the waitresses thought we were a newlywed couple. The cafe also made for nice background shots for our formal outfits.

As we were about to return to the Cashman Center, we ran into Katie-chan. She was the first ABJD (Asian Ball Joint Doll) owner we ran into during the weekend. We waited for the shuttle for quite some time. Yet, we made the most of our time by enjoying the pumped up air conditioning at the hotel lobby.

When we got back to the Cashman Center, we ran into a pretty awesome group of Fate / Stay Night cosplayers. There was a Saber, King of the Brittons and his knights of the round table. However, we are unsure if the servants actually used a round table. Historians and otaku have debated this for eons. This group of cosplayers were off to find the holy grail. For the record, this King Arthur wears women's clothing just like her dear papa. Become a servant and you'll go far in suspenders and a bra.

Jared was off to assist Super Happy Fun Time panel with Anton and friends. Topics included Marvel vs. Disney, phallic madness, and other shenanigans of interest.

While I do admit it was pretty funny at the beginning, it started to deteriorate half way through with internet memes nixed with popular culture. It began to be repetitive, so I wandered around the dealers' hall taking photos and window shopping. Occasionally, I'd just talk to dealers, artists, and familliar faces.

One of my favorite dealers, Starry Petals, was present at Anime Vegas. Because I was cosplaying as a Lolita shop owner, I thought it would nice to pose with their merchindise.

Jared was just getting out of the Super Happy Fun Time panel as the Gamer Girls 18+ panel was about to let in. I finally got to see Emerald, yet though she was a part of the Gamer Girls, they would not let her speak on the panel team. We decided to leave and hit the Phantomhive Ball earlier than expected.

Thankfully, the Phantomhive maid let us in the venue early to rest up and figure out how we were going to cover the dance. It was nice of Anime Vegas to have their first ever ballroom dance. I really hope they continue on with this tradition because it is a nice event to have around. I liked how dress code was enforced, after all, a nice dress up and slacks or a nice dress are not that hard to find. The only issue we had was the lighting and several of the song selections were questionable ("I'll Make a Man Out of You"). However, a few song choices were nice for a light swing ("Anything You Can Do") and faster swing ("Swing Shift").

The other highlight of the Phantomhive ball was the cosplay contest. The event allowed dancers to take a break. The contest was divided into two divisions - Ladies and Gentlemen. Unfortunately, the lighting was pretty dim, it was tough to see everyone's costumes in the contest. Though the flashes from the various cameras were helping the lighting, it was not enough to see everyone's hard work into their costumes.

After the winners were announced (King, Queen, Prince, and Princess titles), the winners (and the Phantomhive hosts) danced to Hikaru Utada's "Be My Last." At 10PM, the doors were open to anyone who wanted to dance the night away. The Phantomhive Ball was not a bad start for the first year, granted this event needs fine tuning and extra polishing, but it seemed very enjoyable for the attendees.

After the dance, we waited for the shuttle. Unfortunately, the Cashman Center was already closed. We could not wait indoors, so we had to settle for the bench in the dry heat of Nevada Luckily, Kevin and Paula, our PMX friends, waited around with us. After seeing a few parents pick up their kids at the Cashman for a good half hour, the shuttle to the 4 Queens finally arrived. It was time to call it a night.
