On Saturday morning, Tom and I had a panel to present at noon titled "Japanese Pop Culture Revolution." This was our documentary made for our senior project in Asian American Studies at San Francisco State. We assured people to meet us in the Telegraph Hill room. Before we started our panel, we went into the panel room to make sure our equipment was compatible with the hotel's equipment. Tom brought a Lego Exo Force and I brought my Tokyo A Go Go Bratz dolls (plus Eponine, my dollfie, in tow) to assist in the panel. For most of Saturday morning prior to our panel, Tom and I took photos and video of cosplayers. We even sat down at Aardman's panel. Saturday Morning Antics The room did not have a schedule to annouonce our panel or its location so I created a sign for our panel room. (Thank you cosplay staff!) I asked the staffer who was checking badges to hold the sign. The panel presentation went very well. We had a full panel room. Tom built his Exo Force lego set (Takashi) during the video. One thing suggested was that we cover Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror movies. Once Tom and I upgrade to better media tools, we will have a better documentary. Thank you to everyone who showed up for the panel. After our panel, we decided to do lunch at Mel's. Jimbo and Yakuza boy joined us. I ordered chili cheese fries. Unfortunately, Mel's seated us by the area where they do the dishes. It smelled like dish room. I even asked if we could be re-seated at a better table and they refused. After lunch, Tom and I went to an electronic store to get more supplies for filming. While were there, we ran into Vic M. He also had to run errands before his panel. After hearing the news from the alchemist's mouth, we decided to attend Vic's panel. Vic had many stories to tell about his voice acting days. He was very pleasing and entertaining. He told of his MetroCon apology video in which he played all four characters featured (including Scott McNeil). He told us about the nightmares of Brolly. He also told us about how he nearly landed the part of Orochimaru, but lost it Steven Blum. Afterwards was the autograph session. I waited in line with Marc to have Vic sign the fan art badges we recieved as gifts from our friends at Scuttlebutt-Inc.com. Followed was quality time with Astro and Tog. We decided to have a doll gathering. A Very Random Doll Gathering Prior to masquerade, Tom and I just wandered. Then we chilled in Richi's hotel room to discuss Traveling Valentine business and AnimeFX business. Pictures are copyright by Victoria Erica October 2005.
