This would be my fifth AniMagic, and I have to say, it has been one of the best AniMagics I have attended, as well as one of my best convention experiences of 2005. I didn't really think much of AniMagic. I was stressing over my Political Science exam which was on the morning of the same day I had to leave for Los Angeles. Don't worry, I aced that exam. Okay, so I had the Kim (Miss Saigon) costume hoping to debut at AniMagic, but it didn't happen, but I suppose it was not meant to debut anyway, but that's all right.

As you can see, I have a fatalistic mindset. Things happen when they happen, if it's meant to be. I take these conventions as it goes. When there's no schedule, I make my own fun. Even if this was technically a school trip for the senior project, even video taping the project was muchly fun. Even though the drive to Lancaster was tedious (even from Carson!), the Antelope Valley Inn was a peaceful and calm area. It was relaxed compared to venues like Anime Expo and Fanime. I can just stare at the trees, take a deep breath, and feel the positive chi (not the Chobit).

There were a few things that I would like to see improved. Yes, Cosplay Revue is a nice outlet for singing our hearts out, but whatever happened to poolside open mic karaoke? The one nice thing about the Valencia location was the variety of food. True, the hotel did have that stand and the buffet, but some of us like to have things other than burgers. There are people like myself that don't intend to live off ramen during the course of the convention. I look forward to when the Desert Rose re-opens so we could have that continental breakfast again. Those omelets and hash browns were great!

The simple things about AniMagic make this convention special to me. When there was really nothing going on, like on Friday, I would just cuddle up with Tom by the poolside. Of course when you have a migraine, it goes away much faster when you're snuggling by your significant other! Yes, I first met Tom at AniMagic in 2002. Lancaster will always have sentimental meaning to me because of that. Thanks for putting up with me, Tomcat. I love you for that! But my cat thinks otherwise...yeah, the cat is the only one in my family that doesn't approve of us.

Of course, it is always nice seeing friends again. I haven't seen any of you guys in the longest of times. At Anime Expo, I barely saw people I wanted to catch up with. Fortunately, AniMagic gave me that opportunity. Of course, I am always open to new friendships. Therefore, it was nice making new friends and meeting new faces at AniMagic. if you wish to have my contact information my email is therose@sfsu.edu and my live journal user name is "soletta." I like to keep my AIM name private.

Of course, thank you to AniMagic staff for pulling off a great event! I really hope for the best for years to come.
