We debated whether or not we should watch masquerade. The line snaked around most of the convention center interior. Crowded, wet, and the scent of several hundred people was not pleasant. Deb finally slipped into Honey, so we wandered around the convention together. It came down to dinner or waiting in line for masquerade. Our stomaches were the judge of that. We relied on the usual Traveling Valentine luck if we were able to get into watching masquerade. There was a masquerade simulcast on three flat screen monitors that was literally outside the doors to masquerade. You could hardly hear the audio. It basically was streaming video of the masquerade. Pixelated and had the audio of a Godzilla English dub. We managed to see a few skits, some were able to get the point across without the audio, but it was nothing like seeing the show live. Maybe next year, Anime Los Angeles should either get a larger room or get a simulcast room. Overall, we heard mixed reviews of the masquerade. It was mainly technical difficulties which allowed several people to leave. Even as people were leaving, we were still not permitted entry to watch masquerade. Of course, there has been many applause the high caliber of craftsmanship that this small con seems to offer. Tom and I have been to several small cons - more or less the same size of Anime Los Angeles - where most of the entries were on the novice level. Yet, the quality of costumes we knew that were entering masquerade were almost Anime Expo or Comic Con worthy. We mainly wandered around. Ran into people. Jarod was hosting Negro Con. It's a buy your own fried chicken event. Nate obliged. It was whatever we can find to do around the convention center time! Diana and Tom made a run for Del Taco in the rain. Deb and I just chilled in the hotel room and around the convention center. As the rain was pouring, the night was dying down. It was sleepy time for us all. Diana talked us all to sleep.
