Sunday is always a bittersweet day. It's the last day of fun filled weekend, but it's not necessarily over yet. I dressed up as Fujiko Mine from Lupin III. It's been three years since I last cosplayed as Fujiko and damn, I still look good. I stopped by the Disability Services / Special Needs department. They were giving away candy. It was interesting seeing their tallies of popular characters that people cosplayed as. My hotelmates and I went to one last panel. We hit the Anime Musicals panel held in the convention center. We were educated about the various anime shows that have turned into stage musicals. While it is very well known that Sailor Moon, Bleach, and Prince of Tennis have been turned into stage productions, I was surprised to learn that Peacemaker Kurogane and Shugo Chara have been turned into musicals. After the panel, I visisted the Lupin III gathering. We had special guest of honor Shinichi Watanabe show up. Guess he decided to drop by after all! He wanted pictures with the Fujiko Mine cosplayers. Brianna and I were cosplaying as the legendary femme fatale. It was really cool to meet other Lupin III cosplayers. Many thanks to the those of you who helped me take pictures of this gathering with my camera. After the Lupin III gathering, I went to the Hyatt to catch my conference with Wendy Powell and Todd Haberkorn. After the interview, I decided to head back to the dealer's room to see if I missed anything. I eventually picked up a plush of one of the Anime Central mascots, the fox variant of Kit Akai. Luckily, he was a Sunday special. Originally priced at $10, I picked him up for $5. I also ran into my buddy, Leon Wilborn, that I have known since high school who was helping out at the Anime Central merchindise booth. I said parting words to a few of my friends who were dealers. By the early afternoon, everyone had already checked out of their rooms. There was a line of people waiting for the airport shuttle or just waiting to be picked up. I said parting words to a few of the new friends I made. There were still cosplayers running around the premises, but people were ready to go by noon. Closing ceremonies occured at 2:30PM. Rosa Halcomb, the convention chair, led the closing ceremonies. She talked about the changes and what could be in Anime Central's future. She hinted out for a four day event for the 15 year anniversary in 2012. Rosa went into the audience and asked attendees what they liked about the event. When she was done asking, she gave out wall scrolls to those who had answered. Everything's coming up Rosa. Here's to another successful Anime Central!
The dates for Anime Central 2011 were announced. ACen 2011 will take place on May 20-22, 2011 at the same familliar Rosemont location. Let's hope they keep things less spread out. By the time closing ceremonies let out at 3PM, the Hyatt was almost completely clear of convention attendees. My friend Pat helped me take single shots of my Fujiko cosplay now that I would not feel guilty blocking traffic on the stairs. Anime Central came to a close. I really did not want to leave. It was great coming back to my favorite anime convention. Since the 2011 dates do not conflict with graduation, I can attend next year. The downside it is the weekend before Fanime in San Jose. I took one parting picture with my hotel mates. This was a fun group to share a room with during the weekend and I am forever grateful to bond with these crazies. I left the hotel at 4PM to catch my 6PM flight back to Los Angeles saying a fond farewell to Anime Central 2010. Pictures are copyright by Scarlet Rhapsody . If I took your picture, feel free to use it on your site or cosplay gallery. While you're here, do sign the guestbook. This site was brought to you by the font Andes.
