I learned about Mermaid’s Day through my Disneybound squad. I did see a few posts about Mermaid’s Day on my Instagram feed. I don’t consider myself a mermaid person; I’m not a huge fan of Ariel. I did like The Little Mermaid growing up. I was more of an Ursula person. Mermaid’s Day also celebrates everything nautical about Disney. I had friends bounding from Peter Pan. I even joked going as the original Submarine Voyage attraction or the Disney Cruise. However, this was a really fun day that I’m glad I decided to do at the last minute.<\/p>\n

The Bound<\/strong><\/p>\n

I picked Vanessa because Ursula is in my top three favorite Disney villains. She’s just a witch trying to make a living by helping merfolk reach their dreams. I cosplay as Vanessa and it’s always well received at Disney cosplay meet ups at various conventions. I had been meaning to bound as Vanessa. I already had everything in my closet to represent one of my favorite Disney villain. The blouse and skirt are from Pinup Girl Clothing<\/a>. The necklace is from Etsy. The wig is from Goth Lolita Wigs<\/a>. The shoes are from Amazon. The bow is from Pip Star Pop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Because Mermaids Day also included pirates and sailors, Rowan did Rufio from Hook. Though a rulebreaker, who doesn’t love Dante Basco<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Mermaid’s Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most of Mermaid’s Day was made of raffle prizes at various sites throughout the Disneyland Resort. It involved both parks. The events started off in California Adventure. People came in their best mermaid themed bounds – a majority came representing The Little Mermaid. Many came donning scaled skirts, shell lined head dresses, vivacious eye makeup, etc. It was nice seeing a variety of fashion and style from everyone there. Raffle prizes included pins from Match Accessories, art work, mermaid themed necklaces, etc. Meetings points at the park occurred every 1-2 hours from the Cove, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, King Triton’s Carousel Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean, and concluding at Trader Sam’s.<\/p>\n
