There’s typically a Lolita meet up happening almost anywhere in the world on any given weekend. Last weekend, Little Tokyo in Los Angeles had a fashion walk and meanwhile, in Rhode Island, we had a mini baked goods themed meet at a private residence. I never had attended a Rhode Island meet up before. I wanted to try something new. Considering April had a ton of free weekend for me (and I had no prior plans to attend PAX East), I decided to high tail to Rhode Island with my friend, Darcy. I’ll admit, I’m pretty shy around new situations, but these were a fun group of gals that I enjoyed my Sunday with!<\/p>\n

The Coord<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because it was a house party, I wanted to keep it simple. I wore my Innocent World JSK paired with a saxon bodyline blouse. The shoes are from Bettie Page – though meant for vintage and pinup wear, looks great on classic and country Lolita. The flower is from the dollar market from the LA Fashion District. The wig is one of the Veronica Lake inspired wigs from Goth Lolita Wigs. I’m still trying to get myself to experiment with colors that would work for me and for the types of coords I have in mind.<\/p>\n

We took a vote for the best coord overall – the prize went to Darcy who donned a donut themed sweet Lolita outfit she made herself.<\/p>\n

The meet encouraged bringing sweets. Cupcakes and cookies were very much welcomed. I was quite surprised that we had some very talented bakers in the community. We even voted for the best sweets that were brought. I enjoyed trying the different types of tea. I also appreciated the savory snacks. Kitty won for best dessert treats and took home a hand made ribbon clip.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed the company of the Rhode Island Lolitas. I really hope to come out here again when I do have some time. Many thanks to Darcy for the carpool. Many thanks to Madeline Hatter for hosting the event and the singing showtunes while we doodled rejected Lolita print designs. I would definitely come out to Rhode Island again!<\/p>\n
