In early 2008, everyone and their mother was going crazy about the Pokemon Gijinka craze. This was the new Animal Magnetism. All of a sudden, cosplayers wanted to dress up as furry, but cutesy versions of the battling critters. While I do admit that I resisted this trend in the beginning, I kinda gave in. Before I worked on my first Pokemon Gijinka cosplay, I made a Pokemon Gijinka outfit for Sherry, the geek of the doll crew.
I picked Mismagius because out of the original Pokemon gijinka fanart, I liked her design the best. I worked with satin that had a pretty sheen to it. I also worked with chiffon for the first time. I used a ton of interfacing for the hat to stay up. I even placed a Buneary plush on top of the hat to test how much it can hold (see last photo).
The whole outfit was pattern drafted by me.
All in all, I am very happy with how Mismagius turned out. I did take this variant to cons with me when I used to cosplay as Dawn.
The doll featured in this gallery is Sherry (Custom House Choa).
