Pacific Media Expo featured many types of Asian merchandise, panels, and activities, but the main attraction for most would have to be the concerts. This year, PMX invited the lovely, head-bang inducing band called D. D consists of Asagi(vocals), Ruiza(guitar), Hide-Zou(guitar), Tsuneihito(bass), and Hiroki(drums). The band was created in 2003 by Asagi, Ruiza, and Sin(Ex. guitar). Since the disbandment of their older band called Syndrome, the men wanted to create their own band, thus the creation of D. They released their first EP called New Blood on July 18, 2003. They toured on this EP, but because of some strange illness, Ruiza had to be hospitalized and Sin had decided to leave the band. The band still toured with Hide-Zou as a temporary guitarist. At around the time their first single came out, Ruiza was released from the hospital and Hide-Zou had become the replacement of Sin. In 2005, Lena(Ex. Bass) had stayed with the band long enough to create one last single and left the band right after. Later in December, Tsuneihito became the new bassist for the band. In 2007, D created their fanclub, Ultimate Lover. The rest is history! I will honestly say that this concert was the best Visual kei concert I have ever been to. With Asagi's vocal ranges, Ruiza and Hide-Zou's guitar shredding, Tsuneihito's bass slapping, and Hiroki's epic drumming, anybody at that concert could say that they had the best live experience. Despite the language barrier, these 5 men could put up quite the show; making sure to smile at the fans and reach their hand out to them, ask the crowd how they were doing and if they were enjoying the show, even interacting with the crowd through a fan dance. If you are a fan of rock music and you haven't heard this epic band called D, let me say you are truly missing out on the awesome J-Rock band called D.
