New York Anime Fest 2009 took place on September 25 to 27, 2009 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan (New York, NY). This marks Scarlet Rhapsody's first east coast anime convention. I first heard about New York Anime Fest on a visit to Midtown Comics in 2007. Being a native Californian, I thought this may take a few years for me to get to, but knowing all the secrets to the city, I knew I could make this trip affordable. New York Anime Fest had a superior special guests line up: Yoshiyuki Tomino (Gundam series director), Yui Makino (Sakura in Tsubasa), Veronica Taylor (Ash in Pokemon), Rachel Lillis (Utena in Revolutionary Girl Utena), Tom Wayland (Pokemon ADR director), Kokusyoku Sumire (Gothic Lolita string duo), and the all star roster goes on and on.

New York Anime Fest is an industry con, but it gave off a fan friendly vibe. It was a breath of fresh air to attend an event almost devoid of Internet memes and inside jokes. The show was very well organized and planned out. This is Scarlet Rhapsody's first time at New York Anime Fest. While I have been to New York many a time, this was also Jared's first time in the city. We hope you enjoy our report and photos about our adventures in the city!
