The Sunday of JTAF started with waking up. Tom and I have a skit prepared in mind for later in the day. We got dressed up as our swingin’ Lupin III characters. He dressed up in his “green” Lupin while I was in my “pink” Fujiko. The pink Fujiko is a combo of the PS2 game (Treasure of the Sorcerer King), an action figure that Tom owns (Fujiko in a pink dress, I also bought if for him at Fanime), and my own groovy touch. Basically, I wanted to make it look like something out of Austin Powers – bright, vivacious, and go go dancer like.

So Tom and I took the bus back to Japan Town that morning. We registered for the cosplay contest. Along the way, we met up with Kat, Hiku, Nando, Miaka, Rico, Yami, and friends. We just chatted about our mundane lives. Tom and I visited the dealer’s room while Kenny was taking guard – or was he? Tom and Kenny started going at each other again. Boys will be boys. Tom bought the Lupin III second season first dvd set. I didn’t really see anything worth buying in the dealer’s room, but I did find a Sister Princess artbook in the cd store.

The time came for the cosplay contest. It was a pretty good turn out. Basically, our skit had the Austin Power’s theme song, “Soul Bossa Nova” with a typical Fujiko and Lupin flirtation and petty, but pretty theft. It was really fun to do that skit. Though we had audio problems in the beginning, it was nice to perform for the cheering crowd. Our other friends went on stage like Ai No Hoshi, Robert, Pikmin, Final Fantasy Shiny Things, Nando and Miaka (what’s your guy’s cosplay duo name?), Dai-chan, and others. Congrats to those who won! Though we did not win this time around (it’s allright since we won at Tales of Anime two weeks ago), the crowd response is what mattered and just having fun and being in character was a win in itself.

Tom and I could not stay for long. We said bye bye’s to our fellow friends. Thanks Ray for putting on a wonderful show. For most of the end, we hung out with Kat and her friend. Tom bought a crepe to celebrate the end of JTAF. We talked to another otaku couple before leaving. We left Japan Town and boarded a very crowded bus. A few people from the bus crowd made a few (good) indirect comments about my Fujiko. Eh, take a picture it will last longer.

For the rest of the day, Tom and I just lounged at the apartment.
