Fanime Con’s dealer’s hall had several wig dealers. This was great because I have been meaning to find a Lolita style wig. I was very happy to find that Cosplay Wig USA was at Fanime Con. I have heard many good things about this dealer from the Elegant Gothic Lolita community. I did bring my Melty Chocolate JSK to wear around (sadly, no Lolita dealers in the dealer’s hall). The people running Cosplay Wig USA were very nice about picking out wig colors that best flattered skin tone. After buying the Lolita wig, the personnel at Cosplay Wig USA offered to cut the bangs to flatter the face.

I took a closer look at the dealer’s hall. Much like Anime Central, Fanime Con also had a H.Naoto booth. This was nice if you are into Visual Kei fashion styles. GashiKon, the illustrator for H.Naoto was there to give fashion advice to Visual Kei fashionistas.

As far as late night programming goes, the big event was the FLOW concert. FLOW is well known for providing vocals for many shounen anime series. Scarlet Rhapsody was scheduled to do “WOWOWTF?!: Filipino Cinema” on Saturday evening. Though the FLOW concert was well received by the attendees, many people who wanted to see our panel ended up attending the concert.

We had a few problems with the set up for “WOWOWTF?!” We were given the main video room. However, the laptop that had the video sources could only be plugged into the back. The microphone set up was in the middle of the aisles. This made audience interaction really hard to do. Not to mention, that the way the laptop was plugged into the projector had me reading the file names from the projections and I was seated in the back of the room.

“WOWOWTF?!” is essentially poking fun at the cheese and overdramatic acting in Tagalog movies and bad Tagalog anime dubbing. We did have a decent audience, but we knew our panel could have fared better if we had a better set up so we could interact with the audience more, rather than being in the back of the room and giving commentary. For the last hour, we played “Wapakman,” the Manny Pacquiao movie in which he plays a superhero that battles crabs and Filipinos in bad costumes with visible zippers. We still hope to do this panel again at future Fanime Con’s…

We were invited to a room party later in the evening. After the room party, we stopped by Stage Zero in which they were doing anime style jeopardy.
