We got to the convention center at around noon. The Friday registration line seemed to go by fast. Many convention attendees were concerned how Fanime's registration system would fall through. Previous major conventions, Anime Boston and Anime Central, had system malfunctions causing attendees to wait almost 10 hours for a badge. The registration line flow seemed to go well and smooth. That's how it should be.

Not much was open at noon. The Dealers Room was going to be open at 2PM. Artist Alley was still setting up. Most of us attendees were camping out the Artist Alley to get a glimpse of what fan artists had to offer. The Fanime Artist Alley never fails to impress me. There's always something interesting - be it doll clothes, custom badges, custom pins, custom plushies, and of course, custom art.

Friday was a very light day for cosplayers. Tom said it felt like a Monday at a convention. Things were slow, but there was always something interesting going on - be it a cosplayer to photograph or hearing music being played by attendees. All of us were trying to kill time before the Dealers Room opened.

There was also a huge taiko performance in the main foyer. It drew lots of attention!

The Dealers Room finally opened. Yet, they were strict about badges in the sense you had to wear your badge around your neck, otherwise you couldn't get in. Most cosplayers I know don't like wearing a badge around their neck and rather keep it tied to their bag. Tom usually keeps his badge in his pocket. This was a Fanime first. Luckily, this was only enforced on the first day.

Tom, Mike, and I went to Johnny Rocket's for lunch. It's usually our tradition to have Johnny Rocket's at one point during the convention. Best milkshakes you'll ever have! I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!
