D23 Expo 2017 took place at the Anaheim Convention Center on July 14 - 16, 2017. Over 60,000 Disney fans from around the world came to this show which occurs every two years. D23 Expo falls somewhere between trade and fan convention run by the very industry that creates and supports it. It is a different feel from an anime or a comic con. Staff members are regular cast members who are trained to work the show. Panels, guests, and dealers are almost exclusively Disney related. We attended the first D23 Expo in 2009 and it has grown exponentially - more people and more things to do!
Our team could only afford to attend for two days with last minute registration. Three days tickets were already sold out after the fourth of July weekend. Our coverage consists of Friday and Sunday. Commentary on Saturday's offerings can be heard on our podcast.
