Ms. Cholong is a household name in the Southern California Asian Ball Joint Doll community. It has been a while since Scarlet Rhapsody attended one of their many gatherings. Typically, no one leaves the gathering empty handed. You always know what you are getting into whenever Ms. Cholong hosts a doll gathering. The Doll Heart Party took place on February 5th, 2011 at the Glendale Community Center in Glendale, California. Deb, Jared, and I decided to bring our dolls to this occassion as we have not attended a doll gathering in a while. We showed up to the event later than usual. Trekking from Orange County to Glendale via the 5 freeway can be a pain. We should have looked at alternate routes to avoid the 5 North to Glendale. However, we made it with time to spare and to display our dolls. Likewise, we made it in time for the raffle. Anneke, a fellow asian ball joint doll collector best known for their Harry Potter themed dolls, took much of the winnings. However, everyone went home with either doll glasses, fuzzy slippers, or a MSD sized T-shirt. In addition, there were two dolly dealers; Ruby Red and Doll Heart. Jared bought a wig from Doll Heart for Charlotte (Kid Delf Aru). Deb bought shoes for Elphaba (Bobobie Isabella) and Doll Boy (Dollzone Luke). I picked up a dress from the Dollheart Alice in Wonderland collection (White Queen) for Eva (Custom House Cebee). Deb and I did a mini photoshoot of Eva in her alternate pop star singer form (as we discovered during the gathering), Lady Madonna. Eva has a Jem complex going on. Hence, we named the title of this event report, "Hey Soul Sister" because of the lyric, "like a virgin, you're Madonna." Visit the gallery for more pics! Jared, Deb, and I had a splended time at the gathering. Many thanks to Ms. Cholong and friends for putting this all together. We are very much looking forward to the next Doll Heart party!
