The morning began with a more relaxed tone. No one on the team was in a rush, because we did not expect a first year convention to be very crowded. The team grabbed a little breakfast before heading down to LA for the first year of Comikaze. For this event Jared and Victoria carpooled with a couple friends to the Los Angeles Convention Center . When we arrived we found that there were very few spots left in the South Hall convention center parking lot.

The line for registration was not very long, we got our press passes quickly and our friends picked up their day passes quickly as well. We did find it a little odd that we received wristbands rather than actual badges. Upon entering the hall for the event we quickly noticed just how crowded thing were for Comikaze. It was difficult to decide where to go as we lacked a map or program schedule.

As we explored the hall we came across the three different panel “rooms” that were setup within the hall. One of the rooms was hosting the “All That” reunion. We could not attend the panel because it was rather full and difficult to hear what was going on due to the poor acoustics of the hall.

As we explored we came across several books we were looking for, including the hidden gem Madame Mirage. We made our way to the area where Stan Lee and Elvira had their booths. Both booths drew in a large amount of people. The lines were a bit longer than we wanted to deal with; however, it was nice to see both Stan Lee and Elvira from a short distance away. We then found the booths where the other guests were seated.

It was great to see cast members from various different crews from Star Trek (original, TNG, Voyager, DS9). We also had a chance to talk with the voice cast of the Peanuts gang, whom we had met at Long Beach Comic Con a few years ago. There were also cast members of various horror movies from classics like Halloween to modern gore fests like The Devil’s Rejects. It was great to see such a variety of actors available for autographs and pictures.

We decided to stop by Pendant Audio's audio drama panel. Pendant Audio talked about radio dramas making a comeback since the advent of iTunes and file sharing. Pendant Audio specializes in adventure serials starring popular super heros and heroines: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Several actors and directors from the Pendant Audio crew appeared on the panel. A good majority of them have careers in voice over.

As the panel concluded we went on our shopping trip. The goal of this round was to find some new figures for Jared. There was limited selection, but a few things caught his eye. As we wandered we ran into the Pacific Media Expo booth. The PMX table seemed to be very busy and it was nice to know that even with a week leading up to their convention there were still new people interested in the fun LA convention.

As we had skipped lunch the team was getting hungry. We decided to wrap it up and regroup for the next day. We left the convention and got dinner. We had a calm evening to rest up for the next day, which was going to be just as busy as the first day.
