Anime Expo took place on July 1-4, 2016 in downtown Los Angeles, CA. During this humid Fourth of July weekend, Anime Expo brought in some of the biggest names in the anime industry both domestic and overseas. The Anisong World event shocked many long time attendees with musical performers such as Jam Project, TMR, Yoko Ishida, Flow, and more. Other guests included Shoji Kawamori, Teddyloid, Aquors, Michi, Lia, and plenty others. This was a huge year for music guests, so much so that Anime Expo sold seperate tickets to these musical performances on top of the standard four day badge. 2016 drew in 98,000 unique attendees from all over the world to downtown Los Angeles. Though locals have been outspoken about Anime Expo's growth, there's no denying that Anime Expo is still the premiere anime event in the western hemisphere.
