Anime California took place on September 2-4, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center in downtown Long Beach. For veteran anime conventioneers, Long Beach is often associated with Anime Expo 2001, 2002, and 2007 - not many fond memories were had here. While Long Beach has had success hosting Long Beach Comic Con and enough time has passed since 2007, Long Beach could probably be used again for an anime event. Anime California is a very small anime convention that often operates in the late summer. In their third year, they often invite local voice actors and established cosplayers as guests of honor. Panel and programming pickings are slim, but Anime California has the charm of a small con in a city that's open 24 hours. This is our first time covering Anime California.
