[AB ’22] Still I’m Burning

Make Mine Mecha by Jared the Greek

This was our first time bringing this crowd pleasing panel out to Anime Boston.  Starting at 11AM we were one of the few early panels competing with the opening ceremonies.  /The panel focused on the history of Giant Robots from the early concepts from the 60s until the tribute series of the early 2000s.  The panel included new titles and updated lists of where to watch the various shows.  The panel had a full room and everyone had a great time discussing one of the most iconic anime genres.  It was great running a panel at Anime Boston once again.

Psychic Song Girls and Super Robots: A Sakura Wars Retrospective by Jared the Greek

Following my panel was a panel taking a focus on one of the series we discuss Sakura Wars.  This panel discussed the origins of the concept as a table top game that evolved into a game for the Sega Saturn and then grew into so much more.  The Panel looked at the live stage shows, various games, and the legacy of the franchise.  There is so much more to Sakura Wars than one might think and learning how the OVAs tie into the games made the jumps in the story make far more sense.  At the end the host had a couple give aways and played the classic theme song of the series.  Overall, it’s a great way to explore the world of Sakura Wars.

GunPla Builders Room by Jared the Greek

As in previous years a GunPla room was set up, this time with the Gundam Pros to give advice and assistance.  There were only three or four tables to work on and they tended to be full.  However, the experts were available to help with any questions for those looking to improve their skills.  They also held classes in the room for those looking to learn more about Gundam model building.  We did not have an opportunity to cover the classes, but we did talk with the staff of the room about our own model building questions.  This is a great room and it would be nice if more conventions had places like this to work on a kit when you need some space from the hustle and bustle of the convention.

The Wild World of Gundam Merchandise by Jared the Greek

This panel was dedicated to the massive variety of Gundam series merchandise from clothes to household appliances to food.  There was a good variety of silly products all tied together via simple things like Gundam branded food in Gundam branded bowels.  It was a fun panel covering enough to provide a good amount of entertainment for the panel.  This can be a fun panel even for those not familiar with the Gundam franchise because seeing character and robot faces all over different products can be fun.
